Harm of Holding Urine

Imam Reza (a):
مَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ لَا یَشْتَكِیَ مَثَانَتَهُ فَلَا یَحْبِسِ الْبَوْلَ وَ لَوْ عَلَى ظَهْرِ دَابَّتِه‏؛
“Whoever wants to avoid complaints about their bladder should not hold their urine, even if they are riding on their mount.”
Ṭibb Al-Reza: 35

Using Medication When Unable to Endure Pain

The Messenger of Allah (s):
تَجَنَّبِ الدَّوَاءَ مَا احْتَمَلَ بَدَنُكَ الدَّاءَ فَإِذَا لَمْ یَحْتَمِلِ الدَّاءَ فَالدَّوَاء؛
“Avoid medication as long as your body can tolerate the pain, but when it cannot, then use medication.”
Makarem Al-Akhlaq: 362

How to Interact with People

Amīr al-Muʾminīn (peace be upon him):
خالِطُوا النّاسَ مُخالَطَةً إنْ مِتُّمْ مَعَها بَکَوْا عَلَیکُم، وإنْ عِشْتُم حَنُّوا إلَیکُم.
“Treat people in such a way that if you die, they will weep for you, and if you live, they will yearn for you.”

The Effect of Arguing and Joking with Others

Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him):
لا تُمارِ فَيَذْهَبُ بَهاؤُكَ، وَ لا تُمازِحْ فَيُجْتَرَأُ عَلَيْكَ.
“Do not argue with others, for it will diminish your dignity and respect. Do not joke with others, for it will embolden them to disrespect you.”
