Pouring Cold Water on Feet When Leaving the Bath

Imam Ja’far al-Ṣadiq (peace be upon him) said:
و صُبَّ الماءَ البارِدَ عَلي‏ قَدَميكَ إذا خَرَجتَ (من الحمام) فَإنَّهُ يَسِلُّ الدّاءَ مِن جَسَدِكَ
“When you leave the bath, pour cold water on your feet, for it removes sickness from your body. ”

“Salt is a cure for seventy diseases. If people knew what is in salt, they would not use anything else for treatment.”

“Beware of hostility and enmity, for it preoccupies the heart, leads to hypocrisy, and causes hatred. ”

Imam Reza (a):
مَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ لَا یَشْتَكِیَ مَثَانَتَهُ فَلَا یَحْبِسِ الْبَوْلَ وَ لَوْ عَلَى ظَهْرِ دَابَّتِه‏؛
“Whoever wants to avoid complaints about their bladder should not hold their urine, even if they are riding on their mount.”

Using Medication When Unable to Endure Pain

The Messenger of Allah (s):
تَجَنَّبِ الدَّوَاءَ مَا احْتَمَلَ بَدَنُكَ الدَّاءَ فَإِذَا لَمْ یَحْتَمِلِ الدَّاءَ فَالدَّوَاء؛
“Avoid medication as long as your body can tolerate the pain, but when it cannot, then use medication.”

How to Interact with People

Amīr al-Muʾminīn (peace be upon him):
خالِطُوا النّاسَ مُخالَطَةً إنْ مِتُّمْ مَعَها بَکَوْا عَلَیکُم، وإنْ عِشْتُم حَنُّوا إلَیکُم.
“Treat people in such a way that if you die, they will weep for you, and if you live, they will yearn for you.”
